Department of Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering is one of the largest and most versatile programmes with various applications virtually in every field and industry. Of all the Engineering disciplines, Mechanical Engineering is the most diversified  branch which offers largest selection of career paths.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is blessed with a set of hard working and dedicated staff with illustrious Educational backgrounds.

The Department is well structured with Central Workshop and fully equipped laboratories

The Department has been consistently producing Engineers of good caliber to satisfy the need of the industry. These engineers occupy prestigious positions in the society. The Department also strives hard to make and maintain the standard to the pinnacle.

Lab Facilities

Basic Engineering Practices Lab

Wide opens the door to the budding engineers, exposing to the various Engineering practices. It comprises of facilities to Practice Carpentry, Smithy, Welding, Plumbing, and Lathe Operations. This Lab enhances their knowledge and interest in the ever expanding terrain of Engineering and Technology.

Manufacturing Technology

LATHE- “Father of all Machines” is true. It is also true that this lab of ours is decorated by the presence of 15 such machines supporting all vital operations with precision.

The presence of 4 Capstan Lathes adds feather to the crown. This lab makes a direct impact in the minds of the future technocrats about the Industry. To Support the operatio
ns in the shop we have  Drilling, Tool grinding and various Cutting machines.

Manufacturing Technology-II Lab

A Glimpse of this Lab will  take you to any of the reputable Modern Industries. This lab accommodates Shaping Machines, Universal & Vertical Milling Machines, Slotting Machines and surface grinding machines.

Fluid Mechanics and Strength of Materials Lab

This State-of-Art Lab encompasses all fluid power machineries like Francis Turbine, Pelton Wheel, Kaplan Turbine, Centrifugal Pump, Reciprocating Pumps and Gear Pumps. High Quality Experimental Setups to Determine pipe friction, Head Loss, and Flow through Orifices are available.

Strength of materials lab has excellent Lab machineries to find Hardness of materials, Tensile and Compression stress, Impact strength , and Torsional  Strengh.

Universal Testing Machine is the Centre of attraction in this sophisticated lab

Thermal Engineering Lab

The Equipments and Machineries in this lab include 2 stroke & 4 stroke Petrol engines and Diesel engines. These Machineries are handy in conducting Performance tests and Load tests. The  cut section models available in the Lab helps the students to study in detail about the I.C engines. They are on a par with the requirements of the modern day Automobile Industry.

Metrology and Measurements Lab

To meet the Quality standards of the industry, We train our students in all the Precision Measuring and Testing Equipments stipulated in the Curriculum. They Practice the various measuring and calibrating methods using Micrometers, Vernier Calipers, Height and Depth gauges, Gear Tooth Vernier, Profile Projectors,  Bevel Protectors and the sensor incorporated setups used to measure Force, Torque, Temperature and Vibrations. We teach them  “Precision is Precious”

Dynamics Lab

The Synthesis and Analysis of various mechanisms are studied in this Lab. It posses experimental setup of Slider Crank , Rocker arm ,   Joint  Models, Gear models ,  Gear trains,Turn Table Apparatus , Governors, , Gyroscope, Cam and Followers and experimental setups to Study Various Vibrations that occur in the mechanisms and Setup to understand Balancing of Masses .

CAD / CAM

This Lab has 30 Personal computers with sophisticated Configuration , LAN ladministered ,having a work station as the server, with Internet connection in each  system. The systems are loaded with High end Design softwares having an in built manufacturing module. The presence of analysis software in the system is the Highlight

We provide an extensive training package to our students with the latest CNC-Turning and CNC-milling machines available in the CAM Lab
