The Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers. Inc. (IEEE) was founded in 1881 with Alexander Graham bell and Thomas Edison among its charter members. Today the IEEE serves over 3,75,000 members who are geographically organized into 10 regions over 300 sections, and more than 1,400 student branches, 385 student branch chapters of technical societies and 60 women in engineering affinity groups worldwide.

About IEEE Student branch of SKR Engineering College
IEEE Student branch of SKR Engineering College was established during January 2007. Initially it was started with 27 student members and 3 faculty members from various departments.

 

Mission

To provide the latest Technology for SKR Engineering College students which is in par with the growing needs of the industries and society.

We, the member of the IEEE, in recognition of the importance of our technologies in affecting the quality of life throughout the world, and in accepting a personal obligation to our profession, its members and the communities we serve, do hereby commit ourselves to the highest ethical and professional conduct and agree:

To accept responsibility in making decisions consistent with the safety, health and welfare the public and to disclose promptly factors that might endanger the public or the environment;

To avoid real or perceived conflicts of interest whenever possible, and to disclose them to affected parties when they do exist;

To be honest and realistic in stating claims or estimates based on available data.

To reject bribery in all its forms;

To improve the understanding of technology, its appropriate application, and potential consequences;

To maintain and improve our technical competence and to undertake technological tasks for others only if qualified by training or experience, or after full disclosure of pertinent limitations;

Mr.S.K.Patnaik from Anna University has presented a Guest lecture on recent trends in control system for our 2nd year students on 08- 02-07. He discussed very brief on Applications of Nyquist plots in Modern control Engineering.

IEEE Student Branch Inauguration

The IEEE Student Branch was inaugurated on 12th Feb 2007. The function was presided over by Dr. M. Ponnavaiko, Chairman, IEEE Madras Section. The welcome address and the introduction of the chief guest given by the principal Dr.T.A Raghavendiran. Then The Student Branch chairman Mr.U.Balaji of III year ECE presented the plan of activities for the academic year.

Dr. M. Ponnavaiko emphasized the importance of being a member of IEEE and indicated how the opening of student branch in an institution plays a vital role.He also administrated a pledge of IEEE code of ethics along with student and staff. Our  student branch counselor Mr. P. Mohanavel proposed the vote of thanks.

Seminar on RFID solution delivered by Mr.T.S.Rangarajan, global head, RFID solutions, TCS, Chennai held on 28.02.07 Wednesday. Students of III year ECE, CSE & IT were attended the seminar. In this seminar he explained about the role of RFID in commercial Applications such as super markets, RFID tags for Employees and also he explained the recent growth in developing the RFID Solutions for patient monitoring in hospitals etc.
